Ishwardi (Pabna) Correspondent :
Rupvan and Auto varieties of beans are popular in Ishwardi. Farmers have become interested in bean cultivation due to its good yield and high disease resistance. This time the price of bean cultivation is more than the cost, the success smile on the face of the farmer. Beans worth about one and a half crore taka are being sold daily in Muladuli.
Also Truck Truck Beans are being sold in Aotapara, Silimpur, Newhat, Joynagar Board Ghar area. From 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, these stalls are lined with buyers and sellers and vendors. In the previous years, during the full season of agam beans, 2-3 crores of beans were sold daily, but this year due to heavy rains, the harvest of agam beans has suffered. Although the production of beans is low this year, the price is high and the daily sales are exceeding crores of taka. This information was known by talking to the farmers and agricultural officers of different areas including Muladuli.
Muladuli Sabzi Aarot can be seen on Sunday (December 22), with the grand activity of selling beans going on. Farmers are bringing beans in various vehicles including power trolleys, autorickshaws, hundreds of vans, motorcycles. Traders, hawkers and traders are bartering and buying beans with the farmers. A pile of beans at every turn. Due to lack of space, they are keeping it in sacks around the hut. Workers are weighing and filling the sacks. Someone else is lifting sacks of beans on the truck.
Traders said that in previous years, 100-120 truck loads of beans were marketed here every day during the season. 70-80 truck loads of beans are going to different parts of the country including the capital, due to low yield due to natural disasters. At the beginning of the season, agam beans were sold here at the rate of Tk 340 per kg. The current market price is Tk 40-50 per kg.
However, for a long time the price of beans has been traded at Tk 100-150. Prices started falling 15 days ago due to increase in imports. Although the yield of beans is less this year, farmers have benefited more than other years due to better prices.
