Abdul Momen new ACC chairman

Staff Reporter :

The government has appointed Abdul Momen as the new chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

A gazette notification regarding this appointment was issued on Tuesday by the public administration ministry.

He succeeds Mohammad Abdul Momen, a former senior secretary of the home ministry, who resigned from the position on Sunday (8 December).

As stated in the ministry notification, Mian Md Ali Akbar Azizi and Brig Gen (retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid have also been appointed as ACC commissioners.

Sources revealed that the Ministry of Public Administration submitted his resignation to the Chief Adviser on Monday, and it was approved the same day.

In his resignation letter, Momen cited “personal” reasons for stepping down.
After the fall of the Awami League government during a mass uprising, the interim government assumed office on 8 August.

On 17 August, Abdul Momen was promoted to senior secretary and assigned to the home ministry’s Public Security Division on a contractual basis.

Later, on 1 October, he was also tasked with a senior role in the Security Services Division of the Home Ministry.

The ACC chairman position had been vacant since 29 October, following the resignations of former chairman Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah, along with commissioners Md Zahurul Haque (investigation) and Afsia Khatun (enquiry).
