The three associate bodies of the BNP – Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Swechchasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal – submitted a memorandum to the Indian High Commission on Sunday to register their protests against the recent anti-Bangladesh campaigns in the neighbouring country, including the attack on Bangladesh’s Agartala mission and desecration of the Bangladeshi flag.
The leaders and workers of the groups marched to the High Commission on Sunday from the BNP central office in Nayapaltan demanding an end to Delhi’s ongoing propaganda against Bangladesh and the spread of misinformation about the minority issue.
They urged the activists to be prepared to resist Indian aggression. The leaders of the three organisations said that if the Indian government did not change its position, then they would go for more stringent programmes. Jubo Dal General Secretary Nurul Islam Nayan said, “India has created a trade imbalance. Bangladesh has been submerged with floodwaters. Our independence is not at the mercy of anyone; it came through sacrifice and war.”
Criticising the Indian media, the BNP leaders said that the more India tries to destabilise the country, the more Bangladesh will be united.
Indian Hindu organisations have been holding protests alleging persecution of minorities, particularly Hindus, in Bangladesh since the ouster of Sheikh Hasina, who was seen as Delhi’s closest ally.
Earlier, protesters marched to the Bangladesh mission in Kolkata on November 28 and burned the Bangladesh flag. On December 2, protesters broke into Bangladesh’s Agartala mission, desecrated the national flag and carried out vandalism. Dhaka said the attack was pre-planned.
