Bangladesh Jr. women’s hockey team will start their Women’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup campaign when they face China in their opening group match scheduled to be held today in Muscat, Oman.
The match kicks off at 2:15pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Ten teams, split into two groups, are taking part in the tournament.
Bangladesh have been placed in Group A along with China, defending champions India, Thailand, and Malaysia; Group B consists of Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and Chinese Taipei.
Bangladesh will play their second group match against India on December 8 and meet Thailand on December 10. The girls in red and green will play their last group match against Malaysia on December 11.
After the group phase and classification round matches, the semi-finals will be held on December 14, while the final of the tournament is slated for December 15. The five highest-ranked teams will qualify for the 2025 Women’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup, which will be held next year in Chile.
The women’s hockey team earlier on Wednesday left for Oman to participate in the tournament.
Like the just concluded men’s tournament, ten teams, split in two groups, will take part in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh U-21 men’s hockey team created history as they qualified for the FIH Hockey Junior World Cup for the first time after thrashing Thailand by 7-2 goals in the Junior Asia Cup.
