Entertainment Report :

There is tension in both the countries regarding the relationship between Bangladesh and India. It has an impact on the entertainment industry as well.
Bangladeshi films have been excluded from the Kolkata Film Festival.
This time a boycott of noted Rabindra Sangeet artiste Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya’s show has been called boycott in India.
The 19th Environment Awareness Fair will start from December 28 at Subhash Maidan in West Bengal’s Madhyamgram and will continue till January 1. Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya was supposed to sing in the opening ceremony. However, a section of Madhyamgram refused to allow Bannya to sing on that occasion.
Posting on social media, they appealed to the municipality not to allow Bannya to hold the event.
Madhyamgram Citizens Society said that if Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya participates in this event, they will boycott this year’s environment fair.
The call for this boycott is going on in the Facebook group of Madhyamgram citizens. It is written there, “As an Indian citizen, I am applying to Madhyamgram Municipality, Bangladeshi artiste Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya’s song performance at Madhyamgram environmental fair on December 28 should be canceled immediately. Please do not allow any artist of Bangladesh to do any event. Country first, then everything. Please consider the matter.” Rupak Dey, the admin of the Madhyamgram Citizens Society Facebook group told the Indian media, “Minorities are being persecuted in Bangladesh. The extremists of that country are insulting the national flag of our country. Even in such a situation, no artiste of Bangladesh is protesting. Before us sense of nationality. So, we are objecting to the Bangladeshi artiste Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya’s programme.”
However, Madhyamgram Municipality Chairman Nimai Ghosh denied the matter. He said, “We respect artistes of any country. We do not want to draw a line of division with artistes. Those who believe in division, they can. But that’s not right. No one has objected to Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya in the municipality yet.”
Incidentally, this 5-day event from December 28 to January 1, apart from Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya, Arunita-Pabandip, Somlata, Chandrabindu Band, Babul Supriya and Nandi Sisters are supposed to sing.
