I will not go for commercial movies: Mukti

Rumana Islam Mukti, the popular Dhallywood actress, had a birthday on December 1. She was born on this day in 1982 at Eskaton area in
Dhaka. Mukti is the daughter of the legendary actresses of Dhallywood, Anwara.
Mukti who has been away from films for a long time now has good news for her fans. She said that she wants to return to the cinema again.
While talking in this regard, Mukti told this correspondent, “I was never regular in acting. My number of works was less and I didn’t have the desire to do a lot of work. But maybe the audience will watch me in some movies in the future.
I want to work if I get a good story and character.”
Regarding the proposal of the movie, Mukti also said, “I don’t want to do commercial movies. I am getting proposals from many people, but I want to do off-track movies. If there is a movie, which is based on a social story and has a good story, then I will act in it. But I will not go towards commercial movies, because I’m not suitable for them.”
In 1992, Mukti made her film debut as a child artiste through the film ‘Padma Nodir Majhi’ directed by Gautam Ghosh.
Then her film journey as a heroine started with the movie ‘Chander Alo’. In this movie, she paired up with hero Omar Sani.
The movie gained huge popularity after its release and especially these movie songs – ‘Tumi Aamar Chand, Ami Chander e Alo’, and ‘Premer Name Mitthye Bolo Na’. Still today these songs are on people’s lips.
Mukti starred notable movies released include – ‘Lorai’, Srabon Megher Din’, ‘Hason Raja’, ‘Jogot Songsar’, ‘Darwan er Chhele’, ‘Tumi Aamar Swami’, ‘Pita Matar Amanot’, and many more movies where her performances were greatly appreciated by the audience.
