Secretary of Bangladesh Information Commission Md Arif said that people should be given the right idea about the Right to Information Act (RIA). Any citizen can ask for information he needs. Referring to the responsibility of all citizens to know about the Right to Information Act 2009 and its regulations.
He also said that any citizen can ask for information under the right to information act in any government office through the right to information act.
This information is required to be given by the government institution within a certain period. But it is the right of every citizen to know about all other information, except information that would cause damage to the state or foreign state. By enforcing the Right to Information Act, any citizen can know about his rights. It is essential to know about the information rights of every citizen. If a government official refuses to provide the information required by the Right to Information Act, you can appeal. If the information sought by the superior officer on appeal is reasonable, the officer may be subject to penalties including fines. A courtyard meeting with men and women informed about the right to information will have better results. Citizens should be made more aware of this issue in courtyard meetings. At present, we have no other option but small seminars or courtyard meetings on this issue. We must pay attention to this matter.
He also said that the day every citizen can apply the Right to Information Act. On that day, their quality of life will improve. He said that the establishment of the Right to Information Act will be successful. All the information on all government website portals should be updated at the right time. He said that there is a provision to hold a meeting every two months on the implementation of the right to information, and the effectiveness of this meeting should be ensured.
On Sunday in the hall of Sylhet Sadar Upazila, Information Commission Secretary said the above words in the speech of the chief guest in the discussion meeting with Sylhet Sadar Upazila Information Rights Implementation and Monitoring Upazila Committee.
Sylhet Sadar upazila executive officer Khoshnoor Rubayat presided over and family planning officer Abul Mansoor Asjad conducted the meeting.
