The supply of bottled soybean oil has decreased in most markets in Dhaka, even though its price has seen a slight decline. Consumers are facing difficulties in purchasing bottled soybean oil as it is not readily available to meet the demand.
A visit to various markets in Dhaka on Friday (November 29) revealed that loose soybean oil is being sold at Tk 165 per liter.
Meanwhile, the price of potatoes has increased by about Tk 5 per kilogram compared to last week. Old potatoes are being sold at Tk 75 to Tk 80 per kg, while new potatoes are priced at Tk 90 to Tk 100 per kg.
In contrast, the prices of coarse rice, onions, sugar, and broiler chickens have seen slight decreases. Coarse rice is now being sold at Tk 45 to Tk 55 per kg, a drop of Tk 3 to Tk 4 per kg. Imported onions are priced at Tk 100 per kg, while local onions are selling at Tk 120 per kg.
Traders also report that the prices of winter vegetables have dropped due to increased production. Cauliflower is priced at Tk 60 to Tk 70 each, radishes at Tk 40 per kg, eggplants at Tk 70 per kg, and carrots and beans are being sold at Tk 60 per kg.
This mixed trend in prices highlights the ongoing challenges in ensuring a stable supply and affordable pricing for essential commodities.
