Armed robbers tie up family members, loot Tk 7 lakh

A robbery took place in Fatullah, Narayanganj, where armed robbers tied up family members, assaulted them, and looted valuables. The criminals looted Tk 7 lakh in cash and 40 bhori of gold jewelry. The robbery ended with the robbers firing two blank shots before fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at the Gabtala area of Sostapur, in the residence of textile businessman Rezaul Karim Mala. During the robbery, his son Alaudin and daughter-in-law Nasrin were injured. They have been treated at the Khanpur 300-Bed Hospital.

Upon receiving the news, Sub-Inspector Nazrul Islam of Fatullah Model Police Station visited the scene, collected evidence, and retrieved CCTV footage of the incident.

Rezaul Karim Mala described the event, stating that six masked robbers broke into their two-story house by cutting the grill of a rear window. One of the robbers was armed with a pistol, while others carried sharp weapons. Additional members of the gang stood guard outside.

The robbers entered the room of his younger son Alaudin and his wife Nasrin Akhter. They tied their hands and feet at gunpoint and violently assaulted them when they tried to resist. Nasrin’s gold jewelry, including items worn on her neck and fingers, were forcibly taken, along with additional gold ornaments from the cupboard, amounting to 40 bhori.

The robbers then broke into a downstairs cupboard, looted 7 lakh Taka in cash, and escaped after firing two blank shots to intimidate the family.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shariful Islam of Fatullah Model Police Station confirmed that the police have visited the site. Efforts are underway to identify the robbers and take legal action against them.
