The police have filed a case at Sutrapur Police Station against 8,000 students from Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College in Jatrabari and other colleges in the capital, accusing them of vandalism and stealing a magazine loaded with bullets.
Sutrapur Police Station Sub-Inspector AKM Hasan Mahmudul Kabir filed the case on Sunday.
The case documents reached the court on Monday. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman accepted the statement and directed a report to be submitted by December 24.
Sutrapur Police Station Sub-Inspector Anup Das (General Recording) confirmed this information.
The case documents said, “On Sunday, 7-8 thousand students from Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College and other colleges gathered illegally with dangerous weapons, and caused a riot, damaging public property. They stole a magazine loaded with bullets from a government-issued pistol, vandalised a government-armored vehicle (APC), and caused damage.
“The students also attacked on-duty police officers, issued threats to their lives, and engaged in subversive activities to create terror. Police cars and the motorcycles of on-duty police officers were vandalised, causing a loss of Tk 2,70,000.”
