The Bangladesh Paints, Dyes, & Chemical Merchant Association (BPDCMA), one of the country’s oldest trade bodies, recently hosted a get-together program at Cox’s Bazar, bringing members of its newly elected executive council for 2024-2025 and 2025-2026.
The 27-member council, led by committee Chairman Kamal Ahmed of M/S Rongdhonu Banijjo Bitan, gathered to address key challenges impacting Bangladesh’s paints, dyes, and chemical industries.
Representing over 500 active members, the BPDCMA plays a critical role in shaping the sector’s growth and ensuring the sustainability of small and medium enterprises. However, rising production costs driven by global economic pressures and local constraints have presented significant hurdles for the industry.
In his address, Chairman Kamal Ahmed underscored the challenges posed by the escalating cost of raw materials, exacerbated by a persistent dollar shortage in Bangladesh. “The cost of raw materials has increased significantly due to currency issues, directly impacting our businesses and reducing competitiveness,” he stated.
Kamal called upon the government to extend necessary policy support, particularly for small and medium enterprises, which are the backbone of the paints, dyes, and chemical sectors. He emphasized the need for targeted measures to alleviate the burden on these industries and foster sustainable growth.
