The High Court (HC) has halted the decision to issue appointment letters to 6,531 candidates for the third phase of recruitment for assistant teachers in government primary schools. The suspension was ordered due to the use of quota system in the hiring process.
The High Court bench, consisting of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Mahmudur Raji, issued this order on Tuesday.
The appointment letters for these teachers were scheduled to be issued from Wednesday.
Barrister Faiz Uddin Ahmed and Advocate Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan represented petitioners in the hearing while Deputy Attorney General Nur Mohammad Azmi represented the state in the court.
On the evening of October 31, the results for 21 districts in the Dhaka and Chittagong divisions were published on the websites of the education ministry and the Directorate of Primary Education. A total of 6,531 candidates were deemed successful.
