NN Online:
The Bangladesh Army has issued a stern warning against the unauthorized use of its name in connection with the jhut (unused fabric) business. The army’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) department made the call on Friday, urging the public to report any such incidents of fraud.
The army has recently observed that certain dishonest individuals and groups are exploiting the names of senior military officials to promote and engage in the jhut business, particularly in industrial zones. These fraudulent activities are not only illegal but have also caused reputational damage to the armed forces.
In the statement, the ISPR clarified that the army’s role is strictly confined to maintaining law and order and ensuring a safe, production-friendly environment in industrial areas. Engaging in or recommending businesses, including the jhut trade, is not part of the army’s mandate.
The army has urged people to report any instances where someone uses its name for illegal purposes, providing the following contact numbers for immediate assistance:
- 01769091020
- 01769095198
- 01769095209
This warning underscores the army’s commitment to preventing deception and maintaining the integrity of its operations.
