BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has raised concerns over what he calls a continuous flow of “Indian propaganda” against Bangladesh, urging citizens to stay vigilant in order to protect the nation from perceived threats.
During a media briefing at his residence in Thakurgaon, he warned, “India has been continuously spreading propaganda against Bangladesh.
We have to be cautious about this, or we may face grave danger as a nation.”
Mirza Fakhrul claimed that certain individuals, through social media, are deliberately undermining Bangladesh’s achievements and progress. He stressed that at this time, the nation cannot afford further turmoil, adding, “We are facing looming dangers, with the root of fascism anchored in India.”
The BNP leader also criticised the ruling Awami League, asserting that the party has effectively divided the nation, leaving it fractured on key issues.
“We want to reject this divide and build a united nation,” he said, emphasizing that while differing opinions are a natural part of a democratic society, unity must prevail on fundamental issues such as independence, sovereignty, democracy, and citizens’ rights.
He added, “As a nation, we must not be intolerant; we should practice tolerance. Removing the mess of 17 years is not possible within 17 days or even 17 months, so this government should be allowed time for reforms.”
However, Fakhrul also suggested that the current government does not need to undertake all reforms immediately, noting that some changes could be left for the next elected parliament to address.
