Four rice-harvesting laborers were killed by a train while sitting on a railway track in Patgram, Lalmonirhat, as they divided their daily wages. The tragic accident occurred on Monday evening in the Alauddin Nagar area of Jongra Union, along the Patgram-Lalmonirhat railway line.
The deceased have been identified as Azizur Rahman (60), Mokbul Hossain (62), and Mobarak Hossain (65) from Islampur in Ward No. 1 of the union, and Abdul Wahab Mia (45) from Islamnagar in Ward No. 2 of the same union.
Confirming the incident, Patgram Railway Station Master Nur Alam said, “All of them were residents of Islampur and Islamnagar, neighboring areas within Jongra Union.”
According to Patgram railway authorities, police, and locals, shortly before evening on Monday, the four neighboring rice-harvesting day laborers sat on the railway track in the Alauddin Nagar area of Jongra Union to divide their wages after work.
