Police arrested Abdul Kader, the President of Narayanganj District Jubo League and former Vice President of the District Awami League, in connection with the murder of Badiuzzaman, who was shot and killed during an anti-discrimination student protest in Chashara, Narayanganj.
On Sunday, police from Narayanganj Sadar model Police Station arrested Abdul Kader in the Nitaiganj area of the city. Later in the afternoon, he was presented before Senior Judicial Magistrate Haider Ali’s court in Narayanganj.
According to case details, on the morning of August 5, a protest by the student organization against discrimination was taking place in front of the Shaheed Minar in Chashara. Leaders and activists from the local Awami League and its affiliated organizations allegedly attempted to disrupt the protest by detonating explosives and opening indiscriminate fire. During the incident, Badiuzzaman was critically injured by gunfire. He was rushed to Sadar General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
