The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has announced a cash reward of Taka 1.5 crore for the national women’s football team following their historic triumph in the seven-nation SAFF Women’s Championship held in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The decision came out after the first meeting of the newly-elected BFF executive committee, led by its President Tabith Awal held at BFF Bhaban on Saturday.
After the meeting, BFF executive member Amirul Islam Babu said a decision has been taken to give a cash reward of Taka one and half crore to
the SAFF champions women’s football team on behalf of BFF and the cash reward would be given through a formal ceremony soon.
Not only the players, but everyone who is with the team is covered by this reward, he added.
The announcement from BFF must have encouraged the players of women’s football team to perform on the field, including skipper Sabina Khatun, who have played a major role in the team’s success.
Earlier, Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan gave a reward of Taka one crore to the SAFF women’s team.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also announced a reward of Taka 20 lakh for Sabina and Co. who rewrites the history by winning the prestigious title for the second time in a row beating hosts Nepal by 2-1 goals in the final.
Apart from cash reward, the BFF also finalised the formation of several committees in the first meeting.
