NN Online:
BNP leaders and activists are gathering at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan to join a colorful rally marking the National Revolution and Solidarity Day. The rally is set to commence today, Friday (November 8), at 2:30 PM, in front of the central office, before proceeding through various roads and concluding at Manik Mia Avenue.
The event will be inaugurated by the BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, and is expected to see a massive turnout of leaders and activists, according to party sources.
Since early morning, BNP leaders and activists have been arriving in front of the central office, coming in from various areas of Dhaka in small processions. The entire Nayapaltan area has been energized with their chants and slogans, as participants gradually fill the streets around the BNP headquarters.
BNP Executive Committee member Abdus Sattar Patwari told Jago News that activists from every part of the Dhaka division will join the rally, marching toward the central office from early in the morning. BNP members from every ward of Dhaka metropolis have also started arriving.
He added that the stage in Nayapaltan was completed last night, and the rally is expected to be a historic event.
By 1:00 PM, the Nayapaltan area was already bustling, with supporters holding banners, placards, and festoons as they gathered in front of the BNP headquarters.
In observance of the National Revolution and Solidarity Day, the BNP has announced a 10-day program, which includes discussions and processions, with today’s rally being one of the major events.
In the past, BNP has faced hurdles in securing police permits for assemblies and processions under the ruling Awami League government. This situation had previously deterred supporters from joining party activities freely. However, the current environment appears to be different, allowing the BNP to extend its rally route beyond Nayapaltan to Shahbagh and even further to Manik Mia Avenue this year.
