BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman extended his congratulations to Donald Trump on his re-election as the President of the United States. Tarique Rahman shared his message of support in a Facebook post on Wednesday night, emphasizing the potential for stronger diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and the United States under Trump’s renewed leadership.
“We look to a future of strengthened ties and collaboration between our two nations,” Tarique Rahman said, outlining his hopes for closer engagement on various issues of mutual interest between Bangladesh and the United States.
As the son of BNP founder and former Bangladesh President Ziaur Rahman, and the former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman holds a significant position in the political landscape of Bangladesh. In his statement, he pointed to Trump’s victory as a testament to America’s democratic values, noting, “This victory demonstrates America’s robust democratic processes.”
Tarique also linked the event to the aspirations of the Bangladeshi people, expressing that they are eager for their own opportunity to participate in free and fair elections, where democratic values and individual freedoms can be fully exercised.
