Three people, including two women, died of dengue fever in Barishal division in the last 24 hours.
With this, a total of 38 people have died in the entire division since the beginning of this year.
Among them, maximum 29 people died while undergoing treatment in Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital, three in Pirozpur, two in Barguna, two in Bhola, 1 in Patuakhali and one in Patuakhali Medical College Hospital.
Besides, 125 more patients suffering from dengue fever have been admitted for medical treatment in different hospitals of the department at the same time.
And with this, 326 patients are currently under treatment in various government hospitals of six districts of the whole division.
According to the information of the Divisional Health Department, Ashrafuddin (50) of Karki area of Mehendiganj upazila of Barishal, Parveen (45) of Baliatali area of Sadar upazila and Labiba (19) of Bamna upazila of Bargunadistrict died of dengue fever in the last 24 hours in Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Divisional Health Director (Acting) Dr. Shyamal Krishna Mandal confirmed the report.
Meanwhile, 93 dengue patients are under treatment in Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College and Patuakhali Medical College hospitals.
Besides, 14 patients in different hospitals of Barisal district, 2 patients in Patuakhali, 8 patients in Bhola, 19 patients in Pirojpur, 45 patients in Barguna and 2 patients in Jhalokathidistrict have been admitted for treatment in the last 24 hours.
According to the information of the Divisional Health Department, 5 thousand 485 dengue patients have been admitted in the different hospitals of Barishal division since January 1 this year. And 5 thousand 121 people have returned home after recovery.
Acting Director of Barisal Department of Health Department Dr. Shyamal Krishna Das told that awareness is essential to prevent dengue. If people are not aware, the number of dengue cases cannot be reduced.
