A case has been filed in Narayanganj against former MP AKM Shamim Osman and 41 others in connection with an attempted murder of a man named Abdur Rashid (52). The incident allegedly occurred during an anti-discrimination movement by students and local people. In addition to the named individuals, 200 to 300 unidentified persons have also been accused.
Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Al Mamun confirmed the filing of the case on Thursday evening, although the case itself was lodged late Tuesday night. News of the filing surfaced on Thursday afternoon.
Besides former MP Shamim Osman, other named accused include Siddhirganj Thana Awami League President Md. Mujibur Rahman, General Secretary Yasin Haji, Siddhirganj Thana Jubo League President and former councilor Matiur Rahman Mati, and Awami League workers Mamun, Shah Jalal, Nasir, Robin Fakir, and Hamza, among other leaders and activists of the Awami League.
