A man was killed and 60 others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers at Mautupi village in Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj on Thursday over supremacy, previous enmity.
The victim was identified as Abdul kawiqum, son of Ramiz Uddin Mia in Moutupi village under Sadekpur union of Bhairab upazila.
Police including Army reached the spot and tried to calm the situation.
Among the injured, 10 were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and Zahurul Islam Medical College Hospital, Bajitpur . The rest of the injured were treated at Bhairab Government Hospital .
It is known that UP chairman also local Awami League leader Safayet Ullah and former UP chairman of Karta Bari and BNP leader. Additional SP(Crime& Ops) of Kishoreganj, Al-Amin Hossein said that, on received information law enforcement forces including Army rushed to the spot and situation under control.
Additional police deployed in the area.
Upazila Health & Family Planing Officer (UHFPO) in Bhairab, Dr. Bulbul Ahmed said that more than 50 patients have been injured and received treatment since noon in the clash between two sides of Moutupi village. Among them, 10 seriously injured people have been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) in Bhairab police station, Mohammad Hasmat Ullah said that, dead body recovered and sent to Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital Mourge for autopsy.
The dispute between the two clans of Mautupi village has been going on for a long time. Several cases are ongoing in these cases, Bhairab OC added.
