In a recent administrative change, the names of six public medical colleges across the country have been revised, with the institutions now carrying the names of their respective districts rather than individual figures.
Dr. Md Sarwar Bari, Secretary of the Medical Education and Family Welfare Division, signed a gazette formalizing the changes, as confirmed in a press release by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.
The gazette outlines the following changes: Colonel Maleque Medical College in Manikganj is now Manikganj Medical College.Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College in Noakhali is now Noakhali Medical College.
Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Jamalpur is now Jamalpur Medical College. Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Tangail is now Tangail Medical College.
