The use of artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analysis tools is increasing day by day in the legal profession. Legal Professions are using virtual assistants to provide their legal opinions, streamline work and improve client handling systems, and conduct business analytics and research.
These virtual assistants perform a specific type of work, but the type of work can vary in complexity and functionality, with some stand-alone platforms and others integrated with existing legal software or practice management systems. In general, AI is the use of computer systems to perform tasks that require normal human intelligence. AI is a tool that can do everything from answering emails to driving a car like a normal intelligent human, which requires no rest and can even make people lazy.
AI simplifies and speeds up the work of legal professionals and can automate tasks that are particularly time-consuming.
Any type of legal documents analysis, findings, research, conflict screening, delineationof queries for parties, and reviewing largepapers is able to produce an effective result in a short amount of time.
Just as time can be saved in drafting and review through the use of AI, legal professionals can devote more time to clients in case management. This allows them to spend more time on one case as well as on other cases.
The biggest benefit of this would be that he would not have to plead time to the court due to lack of preparation regarding a case.Helps in developing litigation strategy based on historical data and provides insight into possible outcomes of litigation.
AI in many cases takes on the role of advisor and acts as a consultant in that case. It strengthens the legal reasoning of a legal professional.
AI platforms need to be updated all the time. Updated platforms provide legal professionals with up-to-date information. Being easily accessible makes it very comfortable to use as well as being like an assistant helps in reducing costs.
Along with the positive aspects of AI, there are also many negative aspects to be found if care is taken while using AI tools.
AI can often misread case law as well as misinterpret an area of law by reinventing cases or citing old authorities.
So even using AI tools there will be a need to verify the authenticity of things. Again if any AI tools are programmed solely based on data and if that data contains mistakes, prejudices or imprecisions, it can prompt errors, boycotts, excusals and through disarray for clients.
Caution must be exercised when using AI tools in the legal profession, and reliance on any type of AI-generated research and citations requires caution and some due diligence.
What AI inspires needs to be checked carefully as information obtained using AI tools needs to be scrutinized against the laws of the country as well as cross-referenced with any legal research. AI should be considered only as a helper, not the be-all and end-all. It can serve as an excellent supplementary tool to enrich a legal research.
Data protection is an important challenge when using AI tools. Highly sensitive information requires data protection and privacy. AI can create these kinds of risks, so legal professionals must be aware of this. More attention should be paid to ethical issues such as how much responsibility will AI have in some cases? Is it possible to blame AI?
A legal professional must gather the knowledge to develop the necessary skills in relation to the updated technology as well as eliminate the risks while enjoying the benefits.
