In Ishwardi, the fields are only green and green paddy fields. Everywhere you look, there is only the green. The crop fields are covered with green sheets. A wonderful scene all around. In the field, the green leaves of Aman rice are swaying in the wind, the grain and the heart of the farmer. And within a few days, the empty sphere of the farmer will be filled with golden grains of rice.
Aman is a farmer’s colorful dream of paddy fields. It is said that the yield of Aman paddy will be good as the weather conditions are favourable. According to Ishwardi Agriculture Office sources, due to favorable weather conditions, Aman paddy has been planted on 3,660 hectares of land in the upazila this season. Only irrigation has to be given during the planting of rice seedlings. After that, there was no need to irrigate the paddy fields because there was enough water in the few rains throughout the month of Ashwin. This has also reduced the cost of farmers in paddy cultivation.
This year, various varieties of Aman rice including Bri 87, Bri-49, Bri-51-52, Bri-95, Bri-103, Bina-17, and Bina-7 have been cultivated. At present, rice grains have emerged in the Aman paddy fields. Again, in some rice fields, the rice grains have taken a golden color. Paddy can be harvested in few days.
Farmers Adam Ali, Afsar, Shariful, Hannan, Azmat Sheikh and some farmers said that this year rains have been as expected since the beginning of the monsoon season.
There was no need to irrigate the paddy field except when planting seedlings. As a result, the cost has been reduced this time. The yield will also be good.
Abdul Alim, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer of Armbaria Block of Sara Union of the Upazila, said that under the guidance of the Agriculture Department, we are giving various advice to the farmers starting from the planting of Aman paddy seedlings at the field level. Rains throughout the month of Ashwin have been good for paddy plants and crops.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Mita Sarkar said that the field level workers of the Agriculture Department are giving advice to the farmers from door to door. Trying to solve the problems of farmers’ paddy fields. Sporadic rice diseases and insect attacks will not cause much damage. Farmers are being advised in this regard. Aman paddy is likely to produce a bumper crop this season as the weather conditions are favourable.
