Peoples Oriented Programme Implementation (POPI) an NGO of the country, supports by Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) arranged a Public hearing at Chatirchar haor in Nikli upazila of Kishoreganj on Tuesday noon.
MRA, executive vice-chairman (Secretary) Professor dr. Md.Helaluddin attanded the programme as chief guest, while Executive Director of POPI, Morshed Alam Sarker presided over.
Authority Executive Director Md.Nure Alam Mehadi, Joint Director Mizanur Rahman and POPI Director Moshiur Rahman attended it as special guests.
Assistant Director of POPI, Nasim Hasan, Shahidul Islam, CAB district president, also senior journalist Alam Sarowar Tito, Senior journalist Mostafa Kamal, POPI, Assistant Director Sohel Sobahan, POPI, coordinator Faridul Alam, Upazila Social Services Officer, Local UP chairman and others dignified person were present.
On the recommendations from participants, the introduction of seasonal loans with extended repayment schedules, which haor people felt would better accommodate their financial needs. The participants acknowledged the positive impact of microfinance on their lives, noting, how it has reduced their dependence on high interest loans from local moneylenders.
Later, Popi ngo distributed micro-credit Tk.55 crore among the general people in Kishoreganj ‘s haor areas.
The MRA, executive vice-chairman Professor dr. Md.Helaluddin visited POPI flooting schools, flooting health centers.
