Mozammel for truth commission to punish anti-liberation forces

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq said here on Saturday the government should form truth commission for holding the trail of those who opposed the War of Liberation.
“There is an urgent need to form truth commission to bring the conspirators of home and abroad to book,” he said while addressing a discussion as the chief guest marking the Independence and National Day.
Bangabandhu and Jatiya Char Neta Parishad organized the discussion titled “Bangalees’ struggle for independence, Liberation War: Bangabandhu and Bangladesh” at Begum Sufia Kamal National Public Library auditorium here.
“Betrayers like Ziaur Rahman and Mustaq hatched conspiracy during the Liberation War. Following their footsteps, Khaleda Zia and her party are now killing people through announcement,” Mozammel also said.
“The people who are killing people through announcement should be brought to trial under the International Crimes Tribunal Act considering those as crimes against humanity,” he added.
Prof Abul Kalam Azad Patwari presided over the discussion while Faijul Islam, Abdul Hai Bhuiyan Kanu, Advocate Abul Kalam Azad, Shafiqul Islam Prodhan and Prof Emdadul Haque spoke on the occasion.
