South Africa piled up 307 for the loss of two wickets on Day 1 play of the second Test cricket match against Tigers at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, the port city of the country, on Tuesday.
After winning in the coin-session, South Africa had a good start with two openers Aiden Markram and Tony de Zorzi put on together 69 runs in the opening stand before Markram was caught at the mid-on by Mominul Haque off Taijul Islam.
Markram made 33 from 55 deliveries including two fours.
After Markram’s dismissal, Tony de Zorzi and one-down Tristan Stubbs mended the innings scoring together 201 runs for the second wicket partnership before Stubbs was bowled out by Taijul Islam when South Africa’s total was 270 for the loss of two wickets.
Tristan Stubbs notched up a calm sedate 106. He hit six fours and three sixes in his 198-ball innings. It was Tristan’s maiden Test century.
After Tristan’s departure, Tony de Zorzi and David Bedingham scored together 37 runs for the unbroken third wicket stand before the bails were drawn for the first day.
Tony de Zorzi remained unbeaten with 141 runs. His 211-ball kock was laced with 10 fours and three sixes. David Bedingham remained unbeaten with 18 runs.
Taijul Islam bagged two wickets in the space of 110 runs.
