Reigning champions Bangladesh National Women’s Football team will face Nepal National Women’s Football team in the final of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship today at Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. The match will kick-off at 6:45pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Captain of Bangladesh National Women’s Football team Sabina Khatun will lead her team, while Captain of Nepal National Women’s Football team Anjila Tumbapo Subba will lead her squad.
On the way to final, Bangladesh women thrashed Bhutan women 7-1 in the first semi-final at the same venue on October 27.
Bangladesh emerged the champions in the Group-A bagging four points from two matches.
India became runners-up in the Group-A gaining three points from as many matches. Bangladesh drew 1-1 with Pakistan in their first Group-A match at the same venue on October 20.
Bangladesh defeated India 3-1 in their second Group-A match at the same venue on October 23. Earlier, India eased Pakistan by 5-2 goals in their first Group-A match at the same venue on October 17.
On the way to final, Nepal defeated India by 4-2 goals in the tie-breaker of the second semi-final at the same venue on October 27.
Nepal emerged champions in Group-B collecting seven points from three matches.
Bhutan became runners-up in the Group-B earning seven points from as many outings. By virtue of better goal difference, Nepal became the Group-B champions.
Nepal played a goalless draw with Bhutan in their first Group-B match at the same venue on October 18.
