Bangladesh National Women’s Football team stormed into the final of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship crushing Bhutan 7-1 in the first semi-final at Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, on Sunday. Bangladesh women totally dominated over the Bhutan women and made it a one-sided affair.
Tohura Khatun scored a hat-trick and her teammate Captain Sabina Khatun netted two goals and their teammates Ritu Porna Chakma, Masura Parvin scored one goal each.
Lhazom of Bhutan pulled off one.
Bangladesh led the first half 5-1.
Ritu Porna Chakma put her team ahead by a power-packed shot in the seventh minute using a pass of her teammate Tohura Khatun. Ritu Porna got the ball at the danger zone of the Bhutan. Tohura Khatun got the ball at the D-box of Bhutan as the defenders of Bhutan failed to clear the ball and Tohura doubled the margin by a left-footer in the 15th minute of the play.
Bangladesh came close to score in the 24th minute as Sabina’s shot bounced back from the goalbar and a Bhutanese defender got the ball but Bangladeshi Monika Chakma snatched the ball and passed the ball to Sabina but Sabina’s shot went wide.
Sabina made it 3-0 by tapping the goal in the blank net using a cross of her teammate in the 25th minute of the game. Tohura increased the margin into 4-0 after dodging past a Bhutanese defender and struck the ball into the goalpost from the outside the Bhutanese danger zone in the 35th minute of the game.
Sabina made it 5-0 after getting the ball from a long volley of Bangladesh goalie Rupna Chakma and Sabina hit the ball into the goalpost after dodging past Bhutanese custodian in the 37th minute of the match.
Lhazom of Bhutan fired home in the 41st minute of the game.
After the lemon-break, Tohura fulfilled her hat-trick using a chip of her teammate Monika Chakma in the 57th minute of the match.
Masura Parvin sealed the fate of the match by a header using a corner kick of her teammate in the 72nd minute of the game.
