BCL banned due to past activities: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moinul Islam said that Chhatra League has been banned due to past activities. So BCL leaders and workers cannot hold processions and meetings anywhere.

Action will be taken against them as a banned organization if they march anywhere under the Anti-Terrorism Act, IGP added.

The IGP said these things at a rally in Rangpur on Saturday afternoon. On the occasion of the sixth founding anniversary of Rangpur Metropolitan Police, this rally was organized at Rangpur Police Lines School and College Auditorium.

IGP also said that the police department has failed to perform its duties properly for some errant members. He said, ’21 policemen who played a controversial role in the July movement have been arrested so far. All erring members will be brought under the law.

In the event, the IGP advised everyone to be careful so that no one can use the policemen for political purposes in the future. He also said that new policies are being made regarding weapons.
