Youth candidates in BFF election

After students’ and peoples’ revolution on August 5, fascist Sheikh Hasina fled from the country and an interim government has been formed headed by Nobel Laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who is the Chief Adviser of the interim government. Asif Mahmud is the Adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Asif Mahmud is very young.

So, there is a wave of youths in the sports arena of the country. The election of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) will be held tomorrow at the Hotel InterContinental in the capital.

Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin had been the president of BFF since 2008. But in his tenure, Bangladesh’s football was overshadowed by corruption and also failure in the international football competitions. Some of the football officials were banned and were fined by FIFA, the highest governing body of world football.

It may be mentioned that a good number of youth candidates are taking part in the upcoming BFF election. Candidate of President of BFF Tabith Awal is very young. He was former vice-president in two terms.

He was elected for the post of vice-president in the BFF election in 2012 and also was elected for the post of vice-president in the BFF election in 2016.

He is now only 45 years. It is almost confirm that he will be the next president of BFF as he was a noted footballer, renowned sports organiser and also a popular politician. His rival candidate is AFM Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, who is a veteran sports organiser.

There are four young candidates for the posts of the members of the executive committee. They are: President of Chuadanga District Football Association Ekhlas Uddin, President of Fortis Club Shahin Hasan, former footballer Mahmuda Sharifi and General Secretary of FC Brahmanbaria Shahadat Hossain. All of them are below forty.
