11 arrested for selling drugs in city

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in several anti-drug raids arrested 11 people and filed cases on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the last 24 hours till 6am on Tuesday.

The law enforcers carried out the drives simultaneously in different parts of the metropolis from 6am of October 21, according to a DMP press release.

In separate anti-drug raid, police seized huge drugs from them.

During the raids, police seized 54 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 1.70 kilograms of cannabis (ganja), 1.70 grams of heroin and five bottles of phensidyl syrup from them.

Police filed 11 separate cases against the arrested with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
The DMP release further said these drives against drugs peddlers and drugs will continue.

Earlier, In August The members of the Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police in several anti-drug drive arrested 46 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the last 24 hours till 6:00am on Sunday.

The DB in association with local police carried out the drives simultaneously at different parts of the metropolis from 6:00am of August 5 to 6:00am on Sunday, according to a DMP release. In those separate anti-drug raids, police seized huge drugs from their possessions.

During the anti-drug raid, police seized 7,813 Yaba tablets, 45 grams of heroin, 53.902 kilograms of hemp and 18 bottles of Phensedyl syrup from their possessions.
