The incident of firing took place in Arambaria Bazaar of Sara Union of Ishwardi on Friday. Jubo Dal leader Sohan Parvez Bipu (43) sustained bullet injuries. Injured Jubo leader Bipu is the son of deceased Fazlur Rahman of Gopalpur village of Sara union.
Locals said that on Friday night, Bipu’s associates sat in his personal office in Arambaria market with 6-7 leaders and activists. Meanwhile, a group of miscreants came with a motorcycle and fired several rounds of bullets at him.
Bipu received a bullet above the wrist in his left hand and another bullet below his left knee.
Bipu was first taken to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex in an injured condition and after first aid he was sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. He is currently undergoing treatment in Pabna Hospital.
Several leaders of BNP, who did not wish to be named, said that the attack on Bipu may have occurred due to disputes regarding dominance and control of Balu Mahal. Public shootings have tarnished the team’s image.
Rafiqul Islam Rocky, member secretary of Ishwardi Upazila Jubo Dal said, I demand to bring those who are involved in the attack on Jubo Dal leader Bipoor under the law. Action will be taken against him if any youth party leader is involved in this incident.
