Former Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzaque arrested

Detectives arrested former Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzaque in an operation in the capital’s Eskaton area on Monday evening.

A team from the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained Razzaque from a flat at around 7:45 pm, according to Rezaul Karim Mallik, additional commissioner of DB.

However, it has not yet been decided in which case he will be formally charged, Rezaul Karim added. He was wanted in different cases filed in Dhaka.

Dr Abdur Razzaque, was a member of the Advisory Council of the Awami League.
He was a lawmaker from the Tangail-1 constituency from 2001- to 2024.

This was confirmed by Muhammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

A murder case was filed against 56 people, including Abdur Razzaque, former state minister for commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu, and five former MPs, in connection with the death of a 10th-grade student who was shot during the anti-discrimination student movement in Tangail.
