Man hacked to death over land dispute

A man named Torab Ali (46) was hacked to death over land dispute at Baraigramem in Natore. The incident took place at Natabaria village of Gopalpur union of the upazila on Sunday. The deceased Torab is the son of deceased Solaiman Ali of the same village.
According to police and local sources, Torab Ali had been in dispute land with his cousin Sultan Ahmed Rana for a long time. Rana and his men stopped Torab Ali on Sunday morning when he was draining his banana plantation to remove the accumulated water.
Meanwhile Rana started a hot argument with Torab. At that time, supporters from both sides came forward. At one point, Rana slashed Torab with a sharp hasua and ran away. Later the locals rescued Torab and took him to a private hospital. The doctor on duty there declared Torab dead.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Baraigram Police Station Sirajul Islam said Torab Ali was killed in a land dispute. The body of the deceased has been sent to Natore Hospital morgue. Preparations are underway to file a case in this regard. No one has been arrested so far.
