It has been almost 10 years since Babita, the internationally famous actress of the subcontinent, has not acted in any new movie. Babita acted in Oscar winning filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s movie ‘Ashani Sanket’.
Babita was last seen in Nargis Akhter’s movie ‘Putro Ekhon Paisawala’. After this movie released in 2015, she was not seen acting in any new movie.
After that, many movie directors went to Babita and told the story of the movie. But she did not like the stories.
According to this legendary actress, if Babita ever returns to acting in movies, she will act in a movie with a very original story.
Babita from Canada expressed her feelings on mobile phone and said, “To be honest, in the last 10 years, many directors have told me stories. But no one’s story touched my heart, so that I would be interested in acting. But it is also true that I still have interest in acting in movies. This interest is due to the fact that I am a film actress at heart. I want to continue acting till the end of my life. But in the last 10 years I did not get a chance to act in a good story movie. Still I am waiting maybe a very good original story will come to me. If we look at the neighboring countries, the stories are still based on the living legendary actors of their country, movies are made. Because of the story, the legendary artiste became the life of the movie. And those who are young artistes; they acted next to that artiste and made the movie more decorative. They played with that legend with great interest. We enjoy it vividly on screen. But in our country, the directors still do not have the courage to make such movies.”
“A respected Alamgir Bhai, Sohel Rana Bhai and many others are still alive. There can still be good story based movies about them. But many of them have not been associated with movies for many years like me. We cannot employ our experienced artistes. So, I regret a little at this point in my life that I didn’t get a good original story at the end of my life, so that I can devote myself wholeheartedly and work hard. Maybe that time will come, I don’t know when,” she also said.
Babita is a successful film actress and producer in Bangladesh. She was the best actress of the 70s in Bangladesh. She acted in more than 350 movies.
After the introduction of the National Film Awards in 1975, Babita won the Best Actress award three times in a row.
In addition, she received the Best Actress award in 1976, 1977 and 1985. In 1996, she won the National Film Award as the Best Producer, and in 2002 and 2011, she received the Best Side Actress awards.
In 2016, this legendary actress was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award of the National Film Awards.
