Proper promotion contributes a lot to the commercial success of any movie. However, many times directors-artistes are averse to the promotion of movies in Bangladesh.
Although Kushum Sikder made a fuss about the movie ‘Shortor Joba’ released on the occasion of Durga Puja, Yash Rohan, the hero of the movie, is silent.
He did not participate in any kind of campaign online or offline.
However, director and actress of this movie, Kushum Sikder said that there is no disappointment about this.
Kushum is busy promoting her first directed movie ‘Shoroter Joba’ for two weeks. On the first day of the release of of the movie last Friday, Kushum rushed to enjoy the movie with the audience at Bashundhara branch of Star Cineplex.
On Saturday, Kushum was at SKS Tower in Mohakhali. During the visit, actress Nidra Neha was seen with Kushum, but Yash Rohan was not there. He did not even promote any kind of ‘Shoroter Joba’ on social media.
While talking in this regard, Kushum Sikder told this correspondent, “Yash may have problems related to schedule. He was sometimes outside the country. Maybe his shooting schedule has already been given. If the word is given, then it cannot come out of it in a small way. I can’t say more. I don’t have an answer why he didn’t share the poster, song or trailer on social media.”
In response to the question whether she had contacted Yash, Kushum said, “I am the one who is in direct contact with Yash. But have tried many times. When he called, his manager received. I told the manager many times on my behalf. I could not access him beyond that.”
Kushum Sikder has no regrets or frustrations because Yash is not involved in the promotion of the movie. Kushum told this correspondent in this regard, “If associated with Yash in the campaign, the movie might reach more audience. But here I have no hand. If no one is with you, you must walk alone.”
“I have no problem with running alone. There is no point in being disappointed about not winning or not. I’m not the kind of person who looks back. Rather, I want to walk forward. I want to plan how I can do better in the future,” Kushum also said.
When we contacted Yash to find out why the movie ‘Shoroter Joba’ is not in promotion, there was no response from the actor.
He called several times but did not receive. Message sent but no reply from him.
Even though Yash was not on the campaign trail, Kushum received more than expected response from the audience on the first day.
She said, “I am getting good response from the few cineplexes where ‘Shoroter Joba’ has been released. Especially the Bashundhara branch of Star Cineplex had a good audience in all the shows. I did not expect so many visitors on the first day. Many were asking out of the hall, when will ‘Shoroter Joba 2’ come? What could get bigger than this?”
Apart from directing and producing, Kushum Sikder has acted in the central role of ‘Shoroter Joba’.
This movie also has Jitu Ahsan, Shahidul Islam Sachchu, Noresh Bhuiyan, Mahmudul Islam Mithu, Ashok Bepari etc.
