At least 136 landless families of Zia Colony living on the slope of the embankment in Itbaria village of Tiakhali Union of Kalapara upazila demanding rehabilitation forced to retreat evictors.
Ibrahim Shikari,Forkan Howlader, Nur Hossain, Anwar Mira, TipuSultan,Monir Howlader, Hasi Begum and others spoke during the protest.
They said these families are going to be displaced due to the construction of the road on the embankment.
No compensation or rehabilitation is being offered to the family. Instead, the contractor comes Friday to evict without any prior notice.
Sothe group of landless families met the Upazila Nirbahi Officer this morning and demanded that they not be evicted before their rehabilitation.
