The chief of Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Rezaul Karim Mallik said that there will be no ‘Aynaghar’ and ‘Bhater Hotel’ in the DB office. It will be a place of trust for victims, free from any unnecessary privilege or misconduct.

He said this at a press conference held at DMP Media Centre on Saturday (October 5) noon.

The DB office is not a place for actors and actresses to lounge, he said, adding that they want to establish the DB office as a place of trust and love for the people. The problems of the helpless and the sufferers will be heard, and they will receive legal support.

Emphasising the need for accountability and reform, he assured that the DB will be a people-friendly organisation where strict action will be taken against the person is found involved in wrongdoing.

He also assured the public that no one would be subjected to torture under his watch so people should not panic when they hear about the DB office-only criminals should fear the detectives.

He also vowed of carrying out his duties with integrity and professionalism.
Mallick pointed out failures of the police force, and said some ‘ambitious and unprofessional’ officers had compromised the entire force’s position.

The collapse of police morale during the students’ movement and the popular uprising against the previous government was unprecedented.
