Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) Managing Director Commodore Mahmudul Malek fears that the fire in two consecutive oil tankers at BSC is an attempt to disrupt national energy security.
On Saturday , he informed the press conference at the BSC conference room. He said there was no work on the ship at 12:30 pm. Fire can be seen at four points on the ship. So our fear is sabotage. The MD of BSC said that there was a fire in Bangla Jyoti a few days ago. Then there was a fire in the fragrance of Bengal.
Therefore, we think that this incident is an attempt to threaten national energy security.
Those involved in this incident should be identified. He said that it was supposed to be the last service of Sourav Bengal. 7 tug of Navy, Coast Guard and Port work simultaneously. An hour and a half after the fire was extinguished, it caught fire again.
He said, Sourav of Bengal had 11 thousand 55 tons of crude oil. There were 48 crew and watchmen. They were rescued alive. Meanwhile, BSC Stuart Sadek Mia died on the way to hospital. These oils are imported from abroad in big ships and brought to outer anchorage. Then BSC Bangla Jyoti and Bangla Sourave were loaded into the sea and given to Eastern Refinery at Karnaphuli River Dolphin Jetty.
