The Italian embassy has reviewed over 40,000 work-related visa applications and has begun returning applicants’ passports.
The embassy has assured that within the next two months, they will process a significant number of these applications—at least 20,000—and return the passports accordingly.
To expedite the processing of the long-pending visa applications, the embassy has implemented several measures, including increasing personnel in its consular section, following discussions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A notice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Italian embassy emphasised the importance of thoroughly verifying all submitted documents, particularly to detect fraudulent paperwork and prevent corruption.
The embassy clarified that simply submitting a work permit (nulla osta) does not guarantee visa approval. In addition to work visas, the number of applications for other visa categories, such as study, business, tourism, and family visas, is also increasing at the Italian embassy.
It is important to note that the time required for visa issuance, final decisions on visas, and any related appeals are governed solely by Italian laws and regulations, which the embassy is obligated to follow.
The Italian embassy has committed to addressing these visa-related complexities with sincerity and efficiency, while seeking cooperation from all applicants in the process.
