Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General, Mia Golam Parwar claimed on Saturday that despite the fall of the Awami League government, its supporters continue to engage in conspiracies aimed at undermining the efforts of the interim government.
He made these remarks while addressing the Rukon Conference at the District Arts Academy Auditorium in Narail, where he served as the chief guest.
“The Awami League, now isolated from the people, is making desperate attempts to incite chaos and anarchy in the country,” Parwar alleged. According to him, the Awami League’s political activities have escalated, driven by their frustration at losing power.
Parwar did not hold back in his criticism, stating, “This shameless party has pushed the nation to the brink of collapse through rampant corruption and discrimination, especially in key sectors such as employment.”
He also accused the Awami League of failing the people during their tenure and warned that their lingering influence continues to be a threat to the nation.
While addressing the audience, Parwar specifically called on the interim government to ensure a peaceful transition through free and fair elections. He advised that once the electoral process is complete, the interim government should step down with dignity, allowing the nation to move forward without further political instability.
The conference was presided over by Jamaat’s District Ameer and Central Majlis Shura Member Advocate Ataur Rahman Bachchu. Other notable speakers included Maulana Md Obaidullah Qaiser, former vice-chairman of Narail Sadar Upazila Parishad; Maulana Mirza Ashek Elahi, former district Ameer; Md Ayub Hossain Khan; Md Alamgir Hossain; and the district president of Chhatra Shibir, Md Mehedi Hasan.
As the nation anticipates upcoming elections, the tensions between the Jamaat-e-Islami and the remnants of the Awami League government continue to stir political debates. Many citizens are hopeful that the interim government will lead a transparent process that restores stability. However, the growing allegations of conspiracy point to a turbulent political landscape that may shape the future of the country’s governance.
