BRAC Bank Reading Café’s Chuadanga chapter engaged in a critique discussion of Humayun Ahmed’s classic debut novel, Nandito Naroke.
The discussion was held at the bank’s Chuadanga Branch on September 15, 2024.The group of reading enthusiasts, in a monthly reading circle, delved deep into the storyline and were moved by the protagonist’s agony in a stereotypical Bangladeshi society. The discussants, bankers by profession and avid readers by passion, were captivated by the unique way of storytelling, portrayal of middle-class hardship and social prejudices presented by Humayun Ahmed in his maiden work, ushering his grand entry into Bangla literature.
The bank’s MD and CEO Selim R.F. Hussain commented: “At BRAC Bank, we believe that group reading and discourse foster a culture of learning and critical thinking and enhance the sense of camaraderie among our co-workers. Literature opens doors to diverse perspectives and life lessons invaluable to personal and professional growth. I am happy to see literary initiative is spreading and inspiring more colleagues.”
