BFUJ president Gazi’s namaz-e-janaza held

The first namaz-e-janaza of Ruhul Amin Gazi, President of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Chief Reporter of the Daily Sangram, was held at the Jatiya Press Club on Wednesday.

Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Adviser Md Nahid Islam, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, its Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, member secretary of AB Party Mujibur Rahman Monju, Jatiya Press Club, DRU, DUJ and BFUJ leaders and senior journalists attended the janaza at the Jatiya Press Club.

After the Namaz-e-Janaza, Adviser Nahid said, “Ruhul Amin Gazi was a renowned journalist. He always spoke for the country. We express our deepest condolences on behalf of the interim government. He always fought against fascism. We will free the media from fascism.”

Gazi’s 2nd namaz-e-janaza was held was held at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).
DRU president Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo, its general secretary Mohiuddin and former and current leaders of the organisation attended the namaz-e-janaza.

Meanwhile, people from all walks of life paid their last tribute to the renowned journalist at the Jatiya Press Club auditorium.

Gazi breathed his last on Tuesday night at a private hospital in the capital.
He had been suffering from kidney-related complications, diabetics and electrolyte deficiencies.

He left behind his wife, one son, two daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
The BFUJ president will be buried at his family graveyard in Chandpur.

Born on April 22, 1953, Gazi started his career as a reporter at Daily Ittefaq in 1974 after obtaining an Honours Degree.

Later, he joined as special correspondent at Daily Sangram and served as a Chief Reporter there for a long time.
He also remained behind bars under the Digital Security Act for over 18 months during the Sheikh Hasina-led government.
