Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan announced that the university has plans to compensate students for the long-term academic losses incurred during the hiatus.
He also said that the administration will work to address the emotional trauma experienced by both students and teachers, reports media.
Dr Niaz made these remarks at the Faculty of Social Sciences on Sunday morning.
“We are finally able to return to classes after a long time, but significant challenges lie ahead,” said the vice-chancellor.
“We have been away from our studies for some time, and we have developed plans to make up for the lost time as quickly as possible. Many students and teachers have gone through emotional trauma, and we are working to address that along with their overall mental and physical well-being,” he added.
Referring to the university as a “people’s institution,” he acknowledged that various conflicts have arisen in different areas.
“We are working to resolve these issues, but we need everyone’s cooperation. Dhaka University truly belongs to the people, and everyone here has both rights and responsibilities. With collective efforts, we believe we can fulfil the expectations of the nation.”
Addressing journalists, Dr Niaz emphasized the crucial role of the media in the university’s efforts. “Journalists are our important partners. They are the mirror of society, and through them, we communicate with the broader community.”
