Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim has been appointed as the 7th Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University.
This information is confirmed in a circular signed by Deputy Secretary Shahinur Islam on behalf of the President on Wednesday, September 18.

Regarding this notification, according to section 10 (1) of the Jagannath University Act, 2005, Professor (retired) Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, Department of Social Work, Jagannath University has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor in the said University under the following conditions.

His term of appointment as Vice-Chancellor will be 4 (four) years from the date of joining. He will be entitled to the same amount of emoluments as his previous post immediately after retirement on the above post. At the same time he will get other benefits pertaining to the post as per rules.

Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim has fulfilled a PhD degree from the University of Tsukuba in Japan. He is the former Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences and former Chairman of Social Work Department of Jagannath University. Prior to this, he served as Chairman of Social Work Department of Rajshahi University, Deaning of Faculty of Social Sciences and Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences of Khulna University. Later he also served as Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences of Khulna University.

In his academic background, Rezaul Karim completed his graduation and post graduation in social welfare from Dhaka University. He joined Jagannath University as a lecturer in 2008 and served as Chairman of the Department of Social Work and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Retired Professor of Social Work Department, Dr. Rezaul Karim was appointed as Chairman of Department of Social Work and Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences at Rajshahi University from 1986 to 2005. Later he also served as Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences of Khulna University.

He joined Jagannath University as a lecturer in 2008 and served as Chairman of the Department of Social Work and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
