Vocalist Asif Akbar did not get a chance to sing on Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar during the previous government
due to political ideology. Even through these two promotions, no song that was sung by him was played.
Asif was contacted by these two state run mass media recently. He was offered to sing. Asif returned their proposal. He said that he will sing on stage. Do not sing on radio or TV anymore.
Rather, Asif wants to leave room for the newcomers.
On Facebook Asif Akbar wrote, “A worker of Bangladesh Betar invited me to attend one of their events. I had to return the modest
proposal of the girl. There are some other well-wishers in Bangladesh Betar who wanted to play my songs for the past 16 years, but could not, now they can. I also received a call from Bangladesh Television. The programme producer wants to start fresh with you.
I also politely refused him.”
Not only in the official two mediums, Asif once announced a bigger decision in a clear voice. Not only BTV, he has decided not to give songs
to any other TV channel.
Asif also wrote, “18 years have passed since my career of 24 years. Beyond youth now I am middle-aged. I used to sing on private TV channels from time to time, now I will never sing there again. I don’t have trouble with these anymore. I have become accustomed to long-term practice. That full head of hair is gone, it has become white, and the vision of the eyes has become a little blurry.
Thanks to the state for letting me stay in the country. Singing is my profession, I will sing on stage for a few years. Millions of people love me, want to sing in front of them, surely they are deprived! Someone else will get a chance to take my place on wireless TV, I will find happiness there.”
