Community Initiative Society provides health support to flood-affected people

Community Initiative Society (CIS), A-PAD Bangladesh, Dhaka Community Hospital Trust (DCH Trust)and DHEM Foundation are jointly providing Health Support & free medicine distribution among 1500 flood affected people of Feni & Cumilla districts of Bangladesh, says a press release.
As Bangladesh have been experiencing widespread flooding since August 20, 2024, affecting over 5.7 million people and 31 fatalities in the northeast, east, and southeast part. CIS & A-PAD Bangladesh has been actively supporting the flood-affected communities since the beginning by giving the vulnerable community emergency food, non-food support and health support. CIS will keep doing so till the situation improves.
The act of continuity, CIS, A-PAD, DCH Trust and DHEM Foundation provided Health support to 1500 flood affected people of Feni & Cumilla. On 31st August 2024, Community Initiative Society & Dhaka Community Hospital Trust jointly arranged Medical camp and free medicine distribution among the 1500 flood affected people of Feni and Cumilla. A health team of 16 persons including 10 doctors supported the day long health support to the all age groups flood affected people. The people also got essential emergency medicine with adequate referral facilities. The health support will be continued in all flood flood affected district till the situation better.
Community Initiative Society (CIS) is a non-governmental, community-based, self financed, International Humanitarian organization. The organization formed in 2014. CIS is registered with Joint Stock Company and NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh. Since inception, CIS is supporting human rights, social empowerment, disaster preparedness, mitigation, disaster risk reduction, climate change, health risk management, capacity building, and relief activities that reduce the impact of disasters upon countries and communities for the low-income underprivileged people. CIS is a partner of Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD) and Asian Disaster Reduction & Response Network (ADRRN).
CIS aim to implementing an integrated and sustainable community based programs in both urban and rural areas of Bangladesh. CIS is run by a group of dedicated and experienced group of people led by Prof. Quazi Quamruzzaman. He is a public health specialist with huge experience in Disaster Management and Disaster Risk Reduction sector.
