A 51-year-old kidney patient has tragically died due to alleged medical negligence at Anwar Khan Modern Hospital in Dhaka. The incident occurred on Sunday, with the patient’s relatives claiming that improper treatment and a rushed operation led to the untimely death.

The deceased, Enamul Haque Riton, was initially diagnosed with kidney stones. His family members brought him to the hospital, where Dr. Nazneen recommended that he be kept under observation for four days. However, events took a distressing turn when, on Sunday, 1st September, Professor Dr. Abid Hossain allegedly decided to perform surgery on the patient at short notice.

According to the relatives, Dr. Abid announced a quick operation, initially scheduling it for 11 PM. However, he proceeded with the surgery earlier, taking the patient into the operating theatre at 6 PM. Following the operation, Enamul’s condition rapidly deteriorated. Dr. Abid then reportedly left the patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and departed from the hospital.

Enamul was later pronounced dead in the ICU, leaving the family devastated and raising serious questions about the circumstances surrounding the surgery. The family has accused Dr. Abid of prioritising financial gain over the patient’s welfare and conducting the operation in haste.

Further investigations are expected to shed light on the allegations, as the family demands justice for what they describe as a preventable death caused by medical negligence.
